My daughter's wedding was held on the beach at the base of Point Dume and she made reservations at the Malibu Country Inn for me. After reading some of the reviews here I was a little hesitant about what I would find when I got there. To be straight to the point those negative reviews are pure BS, most likely from people who got told "NO' for the first time in their lives for some unreasonable demand, and were trying to get back at the hotel. Before I retired I'd spend about 200 night a year in hotels, I even got a letter from the VP of IHG once about being in the top 5% of guest that year. So when I say that I'm a good judge of hotels I'm not exaggerating. My stay at the Malibu Country Inn far exceeded my expectations. I saw a review that said it was too far to walk to the beach, my other daughter and her boyfriend did just that the night before the wedding. Yes there is a hill involve but anyone who has been on the PCH knows that most of the beaches are at the bottom of hills. (and the distance to the beach can easily be seen on google maps for anyone who isn't too lazy to look - I mean who rents a beach hotel room without looking at where it is located) The property itself looks to have been built many decades ago, but the history of what this place has seen in part of the charm, and the flowering landscape like they have takes decades to develop. my room was completely updated and spotless and the staff from the manager to the people cleaning my room were all courteous and very good at their job. additionally, free parking this close to the beach is unheard of (at my daughter's reception at another beach venue we got charged $65 just to park for the day and I had been paying $70 for parking at a Hollywood hotel). Do your research look at the location then read the reviews here and ignore the crackpot negative ones. There are plenty of 5 star reviews, including mine. Those are the ones to believe.

This was a lovely little getaway place, conveniently located near a wedding destination. Comfy bed, pillows, nicely appointed room and nicely renovated marble shower bathroom. Thete was a lovely patio we would have used had we been there longer than overnight. Also a pretty pool and deck - again, too cool and no time - as well as a nice beach in fair walking distance. Keurig in the room with morning coffee/tea options, and the lobby had a generous supply if wine for purchase, which we did for a nightcap (but, too chilly to enjoy it on the cute patio). Very friendly staff.

Seriously one of the nicest teams ever. I left something and they went above and beyond to get it back to me. I needed somewhere to stay desperately at the last minute and I’m so glad I did. Looking at other reviews, I’m confused… yes, there’s a bit of white noise from the freeway, but the entire Malibu coast is right against a freeway. There’s no escaping that if you want this location, but you can barely hear it anyway. And an amazing location… you can walk to the beach or to one of the most beautiful hikes in the world, Point Dume nature preserve. The service is great, you can see the ocean from your own private deck… what more do you want? There’s also a stunning rose garden next to the pool.

"" GUESTS BEWARE "" THIS IS NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL... way Worse $400. A NIGHT!! - What BS. Then tack-on miscellaneous charges for a towel?? Because the door us not trimmed and it ripped Should have been 180. Maximum. Including tax. ■■ Check out the pictures.■■ "Boast of an ocean view!!! > Ridiculous ". Unfortunately booked this without checking it out first. "This hotel is trying to be habitable" Broken or misused, dysfunctional old outdated furniture was depressing!!! Seriously, I think they got the furniture at ""Goodwill, or Habit for Humanity". The reason I am letting this be known, because it is he truth. They screwed me... Gotcha . We were tired and figured well it's just one night. But $400. + They should have the city ordences called for uninhabitable

This was a pretty awful experience. No blankets, just sheets. When I asked for another blanket I got another sheet. ||There was a dead bug on my bed. ||Turned the a/c on and couldn’t breathe after five mins. ||Windows were dirty with peeling plastic on them, broken keurig, nowhere to get water or snacks. No one available at the front desk most of the time. Couldn’t get utensils for food I ordered. ||I think the room might have mold as well because I woke up every day feeling sick but it disappears as soon as I was off site.

I recently stayed at the Malibu Country Inn, and it was an absolutely perfect 5.0 experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed—the staff was warm, attentive, and made check-in effortless. My room had a cozy charm with a touch of luxury, complete with a private balcony that overlooked the ocean and mountains, giving me the best of both worlds. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I slept better than I had in weeks. In the morning, I enjoyed a peaceful walk to the nearby beach, just a short stroll away, and later relaxed by the pool with a glass of wine. Everything about the stay felt calm, beautiful, and restorative—I left feeling refreshed and already planning my next visit.

If you're staying here in the winter months, make sure your heat works. We stayed in unit 18 at the end of October and though the wall unit suggested it had a heating capacity, it blew cold, even turned all the way up to 86 degrees as the woman in the front office suggested I set it on. After another hour and a half with no change and the temp dropping outside after dark, I went back and she provided a blanket and the personal space heater literally plugged in behind her front desk. I appreciate the help in this regard, but if all the units are the same, potential customers need to know that the rooms may not have any heat or space heaters need to be provided. We were lucky; the space heater worked great. The room was nice. The shutters on the walls open up to provide a great view of the mountains. Bonus, we didn't even know we got a patio overlooking the pool or a view! The shower faucet was really difficult to turn on and off and there's no shower door to the stall, so it's open air and cold (if you have no heat in your room). The fireplace in the wall for "decoration" doesn't work. Parking is precarious and you're up against a wall on the backside and if it's packed, you have to back out because it's only wide enough to go one way. Overall, it's a great location, private, close to the beach and pretty quiet. Just make sure your heat works before the office closes.

This place needs a complete "professional" renovation! The outside is old and disgusting. The pool was slimy. The hotel is NOT on the beach as advertised. You can't even walk to the beach because the hill is so steep that the hotel sits on. For $344 a night I was expecting a lot better! The 5 star reviews are fraudulent. The room had cobwebs and thick dust on everything. It was cold in the rooms. The blinds are broken so it's hard to have privacy. It's the only hotel in Malibu beach so I guess they think they can get away with it. Motel 6 quality for Hilton prices. Don't get sucked in!
